Vince and
Fion's Place
Unfortunately, Fion and I managed to bring Shadow
to have some barbequeue only once while she was still in Hong Kong. Part
of the problem was that she officially had to wear a muzzle to reassure
other customers. Although Shadow is only a medium size dog, she is considered
quite large here since most people keep only toy dogs like Pekingese or
Shih Tzus.
Luckily, the once we did manage to find time
to bring her there, very few other customers showed up so we
didn't attach the muzzle after all. I'm sure she was happy for
the chance to sample some of our food.
The only problem we had was with heat.
I'm sure the clerk thought he was doing us a favour by giving
us extra charcoal, but the big fire on an already hot summer
day was hard to bear. Shadow kept edging away from the
grill and almost pulled down the windbreak when we tied her to
one of the windbreak stakes. Although she was well behaved
after we freed her and didn't run after any other dogs or bite
any children, she did have the opportunity to steal our food
before we cooked it!
Here we have a picture of me burning
some meat (and a good example of how hard it is to take Shadow's
picture; she looks almost like a black outline drawn in after
the fact). A stranger was kind enough to shoot another
picture of all three of us together.
