First Day of Snow

[Scrapbook] [What's New] [New Baby Max]
Last winter was a particularly mild one, no snow on the ground even in January, so I guess it was too much to hope for two mild winters in a row.

The weather has already turned fairly cool and it has snowed a couple of times but it usually melted very quickly after hitting the ground. Friday was the first time that I saw snow stay on the ground. Brushing snow off the car is not among my favourite activities before going to work.

That's why, in the end, I decided to let the heater of the garage do the work for me instead. I just wiped off the windshield using the car's wipers and drove off without doing any brushing.

Of course, that means that I'll have to wash the car again sooner, because although snow looks pure and white, its actually full of all kinds of dirt, and as it melts, it leaves behind all that dirt on the car.

Car washes are scandalously expensive. About $7 if you bought gas there, and $10 if you didn't. The problem is, the car wash works best if your car is already close to clean. If not, you just end up with a coat of dirty water on your car and you have to do it over again a couple of times. A warm winter climate is an incredible luxury when it comes to car washing, but here there isn't really any better way during the winter, unless you are much more fanatical than I am and are willing to brave cold water in sub-zero temperatures...
